As a sequel in a spectacular series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is both blessed and cursed. Its story of two Spider-Men is a great time and a Spidey fan’s dream to play through as comic book pages are brought to life, elegantly walking the tightrope between light humour and heavier themes. Meanwhile, Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights.
You can play as Peter and replay as Miles, each time enjoying a unique experience. For those with a hazy memory, there is a brief recap of both Peter and Miles’ stories so far available, which is handy, as this is very much a sequel that weaves in both plotlines and characters from the previous games and accompanying DLC. You won’t want to jump in for the first time here since Spider-Man 2 builds on the first two games both in its mechanics and its story – but of course, there’s little reason not to, since those games are also excellent. Avoiding spoilers, the basic premise revolves around Kraven the Hunter, who is, well, craving a hunt. For those uninitiated in the character, he’s essentially The Predator, an Apex hunter blessed with super strength who has chosen New York as his next hunting ground. It’s a great starting point that sends the city’s hero and villain dynamic into flux as he sets his sights on the biggest prey possible.
The sequel features two main playable characters – Peter Parker and Miles Morales. This time the superheroes must face two primary villains – Kraven the Hunter and Venom. That liveliness is apparent in both the visuals and the motion-captured performances. Even when maniacally whipping through midtown on a spider’s thread, it’s hard not to give into the urge to regularly stop and soak in the glitz of the current gen graphics. In Fidelity mode, the game runs at 4K resolution with full raytracing on display.
This will give you 4K at 60fps on average, with very high graphics settings enabled, along with ray tracing settings set to ultimate. Meanwhile, https://w188tyc.com/ -core Intel Core i K or AMD Ryzen X (or better) will be sufficient for the gaming CPU, with the RAM requirement still set at 16GB. With these specs, set your graphics preset to high, but set your ray tracing settings to very high. With these specs, you’ll be able to hit 1440p at 60fps using high graphics settings.

However, he often struggles with keeping his personal life separate from his superhero life to protect his loved ones from harm. Arriving on May 6, otherwise known as Free Comic Book Day, is a prequel story to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This slice of adventure is set to pit both Peter and Miles against a “new Super Villain whose powers they [don]t understand.” That villain being The Hood. Each and every suit will reportedly feature a ‘symbiote variant version’ according to FandomWire. This could see our heroes using Venom’s symbiote powers to their advantage. As a result, dozens of unique powers could be in play to mix things up like never before.
Outside of the likes of Venom, Kraven, and Lizard seen in the trailers, Insomniac has kept many more cards hidden up its sleeve. I won’t even hint at any of these except to say that Spider-Man 2 opens with a bang, offering up a sense of scale not previously seen in the series. It’s an adrenaline-fuelled reintroduction to the series that tests how well you remember the combat, as well as providing a few new tricks.
The game expands on their existing traversal and combat abilities, including new web-based gadgets and suits that can be unlocked through progressing in the story. It also introduces the former Spider-Man’s symbiote suit, granting Parker unique abilities from his previous playable appearance. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 dropped in late 2023 to positive reviews, though it launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive, meaning PC players who had invested time in the original game were left out. This was fixed at the end of January 2025, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 being brought to PC. In the weeks since, the PC version of the game has now seen multiple updates, all of which have targeted performance issues and bugs. Much like Marvel’s Spider-Man, the sequel also has a slow, but steady build-up, as the game begins with an action segment where players have to save Manhattan from the Sandman.

Act 3 Is A Heartbreaking Conclusion To Marvel’s Spider-man 2
The symbiote convinces Harry to “heal the world” by infecting everyone on Earth with symbiotes, starting with New York. Harry, now calling his symbiote Venom, transforms Mary Jane into Scream, but Peter helps her break free after battling and reconciling with her. As Peter and Miles attempt to stop Venom, Peter is debilitated by a trace amount of the symbiote still within him. After Miles settles his differences with Li, the latter uses his powers to convert Peter’s symbiote traces into the Anti-Venom Symbiote and becoming him into Anti-Venom Spider-Man, which can destroy other symbiotes. Concurrently, Venom recovers the meteorite that originally brought him to Earth and empowers himself with it, accelerating his infestation on New York.
While more Spider-Man games will inevitably expand this mythology in new directions, there’s no need to wait. With Spider- Man 2, the developer has found what makes superhero stories worth telling (and retelling) and given its likable heroes the journey they deserve. The first Spider-Man game from Insomniac received numerous DLCs post-launch. Multiple characters and stories within Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 likewise seemed to be setting up DLC, particularly the storyline involving Carnage.
Despite its problems at launch, the PC port of Spider-Man 2 does have one big upside for gamers on the platform. Starting with Spider-Man 2, Sony has decided to do away with the controversial PSN account requirement with some of its games on PC. Those that want to unlock Spider-Man 2’s trophies and enjoy the various other benefits that come with the PlayStation overlay will still want to sign in, but it’s no longer forced. To encourage PC gamers to sign in to a PSN account, Sony is offering bonus incentives in its PC ports, with Spider-Man 2 letting players unlock the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and Miles Morales 2099 Suit early.
